Our Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) program, established in ****, has long been recognized for its focus on groundbreaking ecological planning and regenerative design solutions, and has just celebrated its 50th year. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in the following subject areas:Landscape design; landscape construction methods; and/or planting design and ecologyComputer graphic software including AutoCAD, Adobe CS, and modeling/rendering programs Rhino, Lumion and/or similar software; hand-drafting and sketching methods;Climate mitigation, resilience, and adaptation including related methods, practice, and technologies;Ecosystem sciences such as biology, urban ecology, plant science, and horticulture;Earth system science and hazard-resilient design; ecological, hydrological and other civil engineering methods and technologies;Geospatial technologies such as geo-AI, machine learning and environmental sensing;;Advanced digital design and communication technologies such as AR/VR, digital twins, digital fabrication; and/or interdisciplinary research methods.ResponsibilitiesTeach assigned division courses in the department's curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses.Minimum QualificationsA terminal degree in landscape architecture or related discipline relevant to the curriculum; and/orCA PLA licensure with a minimum of 5 years of professional practice experience in one of the specific areas of the curriculum; and/ora minimum of 10 years of professional practice experience and recognized expertise in one of the specific areas of the curriculum.Preferred QualificationsA Ph.D. in landscape architecture or related disciplinePrior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching.Research, scholarship, and/or creative activities related to landscape architecture and related fields as described in the position description.Expertise in quantitative research, qualitative research, and/or effective integration of both.Salary and Benefit InformationInitial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range. Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month.
