We invite you to join us on our journey of student success and help us "Grow the Future."About the Department ofAgribusiness & Food Industry Management/Agricultural ScienceOur department teaches the full range of business-related courses e.g., accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing, but with a food- or agricultural emphasis. We also teach specialized classes in agricultural policy, history of agriculture, international development, and agricultural ethics. We offer very popular general education courses that are taken by students from throughout the university. We believe in engaging with the broader community (including public and private firms, trade associations, charitable organizations, government agencies, and school districts, as appropriate) for the benefit of our students as well as the broader community. We have community service-learning courses, and we integrate micro-internships into certain courses. With the specific knowledge they have gained, our graduates are employed in the input sector (e.g., agricultural lending), agricultural production, and the food sector. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. While not required, attendance at department meetings and events is encouraged.Required QualificationsA Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Agribusiness, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Science, History, Philosophy, or related discipline in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.Preferred QualificationsA Ph.D. in Agribusiness, Economics, Agricultural Economics or related disciplinePrior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teachingKnowledge of assessmentSalary and Benefit InformationInitial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range. Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month.
